Eugene Onegin

Work performed on the Santa Fe Opera's 2026 production of Eugene Onegin. I was responsible for spearheading the vast amount of ageing for the show. I worked to establish a set of highly replicable techniques and effective materials to best achieve our designer's desired look for the vast number of chorus members in the show with the time we had. I also led a team of apprentice scenic painting workers in assisting us with a number of these chorus members. As they had no background in costume it was up to me to manage this team and provide guidance to ensure the visual language of all the costumes remained consistent and that our work created strong visual impact.

I also was in charge of all of the color work on our lead, Tatyana's "nightmare" version of her iconic dress. I worked closely with team lead Molly Doan and designer Gary McCann to bring this hauntingly beautiful piece to life.

I greatly enjoyed the challenge of this show. I enjoyed the dynamic nature of juggling such an important singular principle piece with the vast workload of the full chorus. I enjoyed the opportunity to navigate this task with the collaboration of so many different people, as the project leader it was exciting being able to discuss artistic choices with the designer and team lead, logistical supply and deadline issues with shop management, and get the chance to develop the finished look of these characters with the cross-departmental team and volunteers we assembled to see this job through.
